GT Rocks Indoor Rock Climbing Gym is permanently closing March 30th 2011.
Our partner, TBAY's Soccer, has decided not to renew their lease on the property at 160 Hughes Dr (the Just for Kicks building). Since the climbing wall is attached to this building our partnership with TBAY's will come to an end. We had a great relationship with them and wish them well in the future.
When TBAY's leaves the building they must return it to a empty state – ready for new tenants / buyers. This will mean the demolition of the wall – they did look into trying to move the structure but it seems that the move would only destroy it.
This all is truly unfortunate news for the climbing community as we will need to find a new home.
We are forming a group of concerned climbers actively working towards the goal of finding a new wall for the climbing community. This group will communicate to the entire climbing community using the GT Rocks Newsletter and Facebook.
What can you do to support the climbing community?
• Sign up below for the GT Rocks "Beta" Newsletter and GT Rocks Facebook Group
• Sign up to be an active part of the concerned climbers "Volunteer list" and join our meetings
• Get the word out so others join our cause.
This is going to be a tough route, but lucky for us climbers embrace difficult climbs.
